Intelligence Augmentation (IA) has long been a powerful, yet nebulous, concept. From the Internet to wearable devices, advances in physiological sensing and machine learning means that it is possible to amplify quickly both individual and group intelligence. These advances present not only potential benefits to society, but also introduce serious risks for individuals and society at-large. It is therefore vital to understand technological possibilities for future directions in IA in order to improve its use and usages and avoid its dangers.

 

The workshop "Intelligence Augmentation: Future Directions and Ethical Implications" aims to gather a community of specialists from human-computer interaction, ethics, and labor studies to explore and develop an action plan around the real potential of developing the technology and policies. We invite position papers, preliminary research, and case studies that focus on IA and trust, privacy, and agency in physiologically oriented IA applications.

 

The workshop will be hybrid, held in person at INTERACT 2023 (York, United Kingdom) as well as online. Submissions are required to be in the Springer LNCS Format and should be no longer than six pages, excluding references. The workshop comprises a paper committee that will perform a single-anonymous review, and all accepted submissions will be made public and archived on the workshop website. At least one author of each accepted submission must attend the workshop, either in person or online.Please see the Topics and Submission pages.
